One of the standout features is the introduction of Gemini’s recall ability, now available to subscribers of Gemini Advanced via the Google One AI Premium plan. This functionality enables the AI to remember past interactions, allowing for more contextually relevant responses without requiring users to revisit previous conversations. Users can also prompt Gemini to summarize past discussions, facilitating seamless continuation of ongoing projects with the necessary context. This feature is currently accessible in English, with plans to expand to additional languages and to Google Workspace Business and Enterprise customers in the near future.
In Google Sheets, Gemini has been equipped with capabilities to automatically generate static charts from spreadsheet data in response to user queries. By interpreting user prompts, Gemini can create visual representations of data, such as bar graphs or pie charts, which can be inserted directly into spreadsheets. This feature leverages Python code execution or simpler spreadsheet formulas to produce the desired visualizations, thereby reducing the manual effort typically associated with data presentation. However, users should note that these charts are static images and will require regeneration if the underlying data changes. The rollout of this feature is expected to be completed by February 20, 2025.
Further enriching the user experience, Google Docs now includes an AI-driven image generation feature powered by Gemini. This tool allows users to create customized images by simply describing their requirements and selecting a visual style. The AI then generates images that can be seamlessly integrated into documents, eliminating the need to source visuals from external repositories. This functionality is particularly beneficial for users seeking to enhance the visual appeal of their documents without relying on graphic design resources. The feature began its rollout on November 15, 2024, and became widely available by December 16, 2024. Access to this feature requires a subscription to plans such as Gemini Business or Google One AI Premium.
